PROJECT UBUMWE

In 2017 I was invited to accompany filmmaker Thabo Wolfaardt in documenting a program within the Rwandan national genocide reconciliation. The project involves reconnecting imprisoned genocide perpetrators, who are finally ready to take responsibility for their actions, with survivors of their crimes who have decided to offer them forgiveness. The following images feature participants in Project Ubumwe and those of Tutsi and Hutu tribes who live together in reconciliation villages.
